Traditional Tattoos

Traditional tattoos will never get old. If you decided to get a traditional tattoo you should know some facts about it. The oldest tattooed body with 57 tattoos is 5000 years old. Tattoos have also been found on 3000-year-old Egyptian mummies. Some tattoos were religious, others were a mark of a place in society. In Hawaii, tattoos were used as medical treatment until missionaries came.

However, the Western society needed more time to master the tattoo art. And the first ones were sailors. It was James Cook’s crew who first got those tattoos  while traveling Japan and China. Until WWII, tattoos were the marks of sailors, hobos and freaks. By the 1950’s, tattoos became popular between biker gangs, convicts and other outcasts. By the late 1970’s tattoos and piercings became a mark of punk culture. Nowadays, the range of tattooing continues to expand. However, we have a huge collection of traditional tattoo designs and ideas to choose from. Check them out!
